February letter from Revd. Rich Henderson

Posted on by Tania Birtwistle

Dear Friends,

The beginning of February sees me coming to the end of my time in Sole Bay. It has been a very enjoyable and fulfilling time for me – and sometimes quite challenging as well! I have experienced so much in the time I have been here: some of these experiences were totally new to me and others were building on the base of my previous experience. I have met and worked with a wide range of people, both inside and outside the churches. It is the people that ultimately make this job so fulfilling: there are so many good, friendly and accepting people in this community, and it has been a great pleasure to meet so many.

During my time here I have seen God at work in all sorts of ways. A personal joy for me as a priest is seeing people grow in their personal faith and the body of Christ engaging in community life through loving service.

As a family we have loved living in this part of the world for the last seven years and particular want to thank the community of Reydon where we have very much been at home. We have good friends here and hope to continue those friendships on into the future.

I have no doubt that things will continue to happen and move forward here, there is a huge opportunity for lay leadership that can be creative for the whole body of Christ in this place. It will also be both supportive and freeing for ordained staff. I pray that all that the future brings will enable the parishes of Sole Bay to ‘Grow in God’.

My licensing as Priest in Charge of the Parish of Beccles will take place on Friday 26th February, 7.30pm at St.Michael’s, Beccles.

From all of us as a family, thank you all for your love, support and friendship.

May the peace of the Lord Christ go with us,
wherever He may send us.
May He guide us through the wilderness,
protect us through the storm.
May He bring us home rejoicing
at the wonders He has shown us.
May Christ lead us this day and always. Amen
