June Team Letter from Revd. Simon Pitcher

Posted on by Tania Birtwistle

Dear Friends,

In this edition of Heart and Sole you will find the first of a new page entitled “Thanks and Praise.”  There are many things to give thanks for, and many acts of kindness and support that make a real difference to how we feel and to how we live.  Acts of kindness and friendship are not always spectacular, and are often simple and thoughtful but they can make a big difference to us when we most need encouragement.

The family of Stephen Clegg are kindly sponsoring this page in memory of Stephen, who was a well loved and familiar figure at St Edmunds and in Southwold.

If somebody has helped or encouraged you in some way, and you feel that others would be encouraged from knowing about it, then we would be pleased to publish your story.  It is not necessary to embarrass anybody by mentioning any names, but by telling your story we can together celebrate the quality of our community life.

We have recently concluded this year’s round of annual church meetings at which church wardens and PCC members are elected, and church treasurers, secretaries, sidespersons and fabric officers, etc are appointed.  I had the opportunity to take several of these meetings across the team this year, and was struck by the huge efforts that people make to support our church life, and the amount by which people value the role of the church in each of our Sole Bay communities.  I therefore give thanks and praise to everyone who makes up our whole church family in Sole Bay, people of every age, all of whom are blessed by many gifts and talents, and for the contribution that everyone makes to our church family.

We are in June in the season of Pentecost, when we celebrate the gift of God’s Holy Spirit upon his church.  Let us pray for a fresh outpouring of His Holy Spirit that we might live as Easter people who in the name of Christ offer love, friendship and welcome within our community.  I invite you to share your stories of thanks and praise.

Yours in Christ.

Simon
