STEWARDSHIP SUNDAY – 14 October 2018 In preparation for our Stewardship Campaign ‘Growing in Generosity’ please pick up a copy of ‘Generous God, Generous People’ at the back of church which provides a series of daily Bible readings for five weeks on the subject of Christian Giving.  Please pray for the success of our campaign across the Sole Bay Team.

 

Revd. Judy Miller is being licensed to Sole Bay Team at Harvest Festival Evensong in Walberswick on 14th October at 6pm when Archdeacon Ian will be preaching and leading the licensing part of the service. 

 

Friday 26th October, 7.30pm, Holy Trinity, Blythburgh – A concert to mark the centenary of the end of WW1.  In aid of SSAFA the Armed Forces charity.  Presented by Waveney Winds, with special guests the Millitary Wives’ Choir (Wattisham) and compere, Libby Purves. November is, traditionally, the month in the Church when we especially remember the departed on All Souls Day. There will be a service on Sunday 4th November, at the Church of St. Margaret, Reydon,  beginning at 3pm.  During the service names of our departed loved ones are read out and there is an opportunity for you to light a candle as a sign of remembrance and love for those who have died.

 

3rd November “Fighting for Freedom” A concert by the Amnesty Chorale

7.30pm Holy Trinity Church, Blythburgh. Tickets £10 (£7 concessions) available on the door.

An evening of music and readings commemorating the centenary of the end of the First World War, and marking other struggles against oppression in the last hundred years. Proceeds from the concert will go to Amnesty International. The programme will include the “Agnus Dei” from Britten’s War Requiem, Vaughan Williams “Serenade to Music” and an extract from the Verdi Requiem with Sarah Gallop, ex-Wenhaston resident, as soloist. The choir will be conducted by Ellis Bell, director of the Blythburgh Singers, and Richard Brain, Director of Music at Christ Church, Southgate in north London.

 

A quiz night on the 17th November at Wangford Community Centre to help raise money for St Andrew Sotherton. Teams of up to six people (any age welcome) nibbles will be provided but bring your own drink. The quiz will start at 7.15pm, doors open from 7pm. Raffle will be held on the night.
