Team News 2 August

Posted on by Tania Birtwistle

Copy deadline for the September issue of Heart & Sole is 10th August.

We are planning to gradually re-open our Churches for worship. The Government has issued strict guidelines that we must observe. One such measure is that face coverings are strongly advised to be worn in church.

Our website contains details of how to join others online and in Church for prayer, worship, study, and community life

Some Services will now take place in Church, whilst others will continue to be live streamed. Services in church will take place on 2 August in St Edmund’s Southwold and St Margaret’s Reydon at 8.00am and 9.30am, St Andrew, Walberswick at 11.15am, and St Mary’s Uggeshall at 6.00pm. Prayer point – We pray for all the nations of the world, especially for the poorest nations trying to cope with the Covid 19 Pandemic.  We pray for the countries trying to lift lockdown restrictions, and for those people who continue to shield or are living with anxiety.  We pray for those whose livelihoods are at risk and for all of us as we seek to return to some normality living alongside the  reality of the virus.

Instead of Evensong on Sunday, 16th August, there will be a St. Lawrence-Tide ‘Songs of Praise’ outside church. This will be followed by a ticketed ‘Pimms Celebration’. Please ask Alan, Alice or Alison for further details. All are welcome.

The animal service is still on (virtually). Sunday 16 August at 11.15am

Even though we can’t hold an actual Blessing of the Animals Service in Blythburgh this year, we still believe that it’s important to give thanks for our animals – for all animals – because they are a valued gift of God. So we  thought it would be an exciting experiment to hold a Zoom animal service on Sunday 16 August at 11.15am. You’re warmly invited to join your pets on the sofa, or wherever, in front of a screen as we have been doing with our regular 11.15 Zoom services.

Because animals have a tendency to wriggle, and occasionally refuse to co-operate, we want to include, as part of the service, a ‘rogues gallery’ of people’s animals, so we can all admire each other’s furry and feathered friends. If you’d like your animal  to be featured (even if he or she has departed this life), please send a photograph (preferably as a jpeg) to

This event is not cancelled -please continue to save the date in your diary. This is a great fundraiser for the nominated Church you ride for as they receive 50% of your sponsorship.
