Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement which invites Christians around the world to pray between Ascension Day and Pentecost; 10th May and 20th May, for more people to come to know Jesus Christ.  What started as an invitation from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York in 2016 to The Church of England has grown into a global prayer movement.  The days of prayer coincide with Christian Aid Week.

Here in Sole Bay we are going to be involved and we invite you to join us in prayer.

On Ascension Day Thursday May 10th there will be a service of Holy Communion followed by coffee & conversation in St Edmunds Southwold at 10.00.

At 7.30pm there will be a service of Holy Communion in Sotherton Church, followed by some light refreshments.

Within each of our churches there will be one prayer station based on the theme of “Come, Holy Spirit”.  People are encouraged to visit one of our team churches each day and to pray there, offering prayers for the church, the world and our neighbourhood, inviting the Holy Spirit to come among us in new ways.

Morning prayer will be said at 8.45 in Wangford on Tuesday 15th May, Reydon on Wednesday 16th, Southwold on Thursday 17th and Evening Prayer in Southwold at 4pm on Friday 11th and 18th.  Everyone is welcome.

Christian Aid have prepared a devotional booklet for individuals to use on each of the 11 days.  Each day there is a suggested Bible reading, reflection and response.  These booklets will be available in church for anyone who would like one.

A Christian Aid coffee morning in St Margaret’s Reydon on Saturday 12th May.

On Whit Sunday/Pentecost on 20th May, in addition to our regular pattern of services, there will be an evening Songs of Praise service in St Edmunds at 6pm. Everyone welcome.

Summer Concerts by visiting Bohemian Choir Choral music. Stories from the Communist era.

‘Dark Times in Beautiful Places’. There will be two performances: Friday 11 May 7.30pm St Edmund, Southwold. Saturday 12 May 7.30pm St Peter & St Paul, Wangford Free admission, retiring collection. All welcome. The choir will also be joining us for our worship in St Margaret Reydon at 9.30am on Sunday 13 May and in St Peter & St Paul, Wangford at 11.15am on the same day.
