Shoeboxes 2015

Very many thanks to all those who did a shoebox both in our Churches and in local community groups. As a result we were able to take a total of 219 shoeboxes to our local distribution centre, our best ever total.

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday on February 10th.  There will be a Team Service (venue to be advised).  During Lent there will be a programme of Lent study courses held jointly with all local churches under the Churches Together umbrella.  There will be a variety of times and venues, so hopefully there will be a suitable opportunity for everyone who would like to participate to find a group.  The theme of the “York Course” that we will be using this year is “The Psalms.  Prayers for Today’s Church”.

Also in Lent there will be a return of the Churches Together Lent Lectures.  This year we will be exploring some of the ethical challenges that are before us in the world at the moment, including Just War, human sexuality, the future of marriage, the future for faith education in our schools, our response to refugees and immigration, and assisted dying.  These are vital and important subjects that raise questions about the practical application of our faith, and the relevance of the church in contemporary society.  All lectures will be at 6pm in Southwold URC on Sunday evenings in Lent, and we hope you will join us.
