  • Due to Holy Week and the Passion Play the Tuesday Communion service will resume on April 10 at 6.30pm in St Margaret’s Church Room.

THIS WEEK The Southwold Passion – a Passion Play for Southwold

Directed by Rev Alan and performed by members of the local community and supported by The Sole Bay Team of Churches. 3 Performances only: Monday 26 March at 7pm; Tuesday 27 March at 2.30pm; Wednesday 28 March at 7pm. The play begins on Bartholomew Green in Southwold and then moves into St Edmund’s Church. The Audience will promenade, apart from those who will find this physically challenging, where seating will be provided inside the church. The performance on 27 March is designed for those who will find the play’s different locations a challenge. Tickets £10 for adults and £8 for under 16s. Easter Sunrise There will be an Easter Morning Songs of Praise service on the front at Southwold. We meet at 7.00 a.m. at the shelter half way between the lighthouse and the pier on the cliff-side overlooking the sea for half an hour or so of Easter hymns, songs, readings, and prayers.  This leaves plenty of time for those who wish to move on to an 8.00 a.m. service in Church elsewhere.  Do join us if you can.

 

Church Flower Arrangements Workshop Denise Johnson of Garden Gate Flowers Southwold has kindly volunteered to run a workshop for Church Flower Arrangers in the Team to show us how to achieve beautiful church arrangements without using oasis. The workshop will be on Thursday,12th April in St. Edmund’s Church between 2 – 4p.m. Please email Mary Lomas mary@ursaden.com with your name, ‘phone number and church you attend, or, ring her with your details (01502 578126) by 5th April. You will then be contacted with further details about materials you may be able to bring to help.

 

Friday, 20th April at 6.00pm ‘An Evening of Poetry and Prosecco’ at St. Lawrence Church South Cove. Poetry to invoke spring and the saints, especially St. George, Shakespeare and the Queen’s birthday. For all poets and performers. Safeguarding Basic Awareness Training: All Servers, Welcomers, Refreshment Helpers, Cleaners, Sidespersons, Flower Arrangers, Bell Ringers, Choir Members, PCC Members, Children and Youth Leaders, Service Leaders.  We have been advised by the Diocese that you need to complete the Church of England’s Basic Awareness in Safeguarding Training so that we are compliant with their new Safeguarding requirements.  This can be done either online or at a face to face training course in Southwold and Reydon.  For online training, http://www.cofesuffolk.org/training#/ Face to face training session, they are 7pm, 17 April in St Edmunds Hall or 7.15pm, 24 April in St Margaret’s Reydon.  Sign-up sheet at the back of church.
