Former Team Vicar The Revd Simon Ward has been appointed to a new position of Interim Priest in Charge of Earlham and will be licensed by the Bishop of Norwich at 10am on 12th September 2014 at the Bishop’s House Chapel. Please hold Simon, Georgette and family in your prayers.
Christian Aid Iraq Appeal
Today, there will be an opportunity to donate in each Church across the Team.
Please give out of the generosity of your hearts in this desperate situation where the Christian and Yazidi community are fleeing for their lives. We CAN make a small difference.
Cash or cheque donations welcome – cheques payable to Sole Bay Team No. 1 account and Jenny Allen, Team Treasurer, will forward the total to Christian Aid. If you can gift aid your amount, please fill out a gift aid form (available in the Churches).
St. Margaret’sChurch will not be in use from 8 September until the end of November due to building work.
Worship during this time will be in the church room, with Feast all-age worship taking place in Reydon Village Hall. Special arrangements will be in place for funerals and memorial services.
Friends of Blythburgh Church Open Day and Wine Tasting On Saturday 13th September we are planning an exciting new initiative – an Open Day for all Friends and supporters of Holy Trinity. The event will be a ‘thank you’ to members of the Friends Group for their ongoing support and an opportunity for us all to celebrate our remarkable Church. The day is free and open to all. 3.00 to 5.00 p.m.: Teas with scones and cakes. An exhibition of paintings by local artist Paul Bennett and a small exhibition of paintings and etchings featuring the Church. 4.00 p.m. Welcome and presentation of the Friends Scheme. Tour of the Church with local historian Alan Mackley, and introduction to his latest researches. 6.00 – 7.00 p.m. Wine tasting with Sonia Boggis. Blyth Valley Wines.
New course beginning 18 September – Pilgrim – a course for the Christian Journey.
An informal course with teaching, discussion and prayer for enquirers, for people who have never been to church or as a refresher and a chance to ask questions. 6 Thursday evenings beginning 18 September at 730pm in Wangford Community Centre. The William Alwyn Festival begins on Sunday 5th October at 6pm with a Festival Evensong with the Blythburgh Singers singing a Festival Commission and First Performance of Patric Standford’s anthem “Lord, how majestic is thy name”. This growing festival offers a range of events including film, poetry readings and music in Southwold and Blythburgh. Please see leaflets in church.
